SABIC

The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation ( sabic short), Arabic الشركة السعودية للصناعات الأساسية, سابك, is a Saudi Arabian chemical and metal - Group and claims to be the leading metal producer in the Middle East. The company is listed on the Tadawul All- Share Index on the stock exchange Tadawul.

History

Sabic was established in 1976 in order to make the processing of natural resources, especially oil and gas, in their own country can.

The head office is located in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh. Most production facilities are located in Al- Jubail on the Persian Gulf and Yanbu ʿ al - Bahr ( " source by the sea" ) on the Red Sea.

2002 Sabic acquired the petrochemical sector DSM of the Netherlands and thus European works in Sittard -Geleen ( NL) and Gelsenkirchen (D) taken. Since early 2007, Sabic has a third European plant located in Teesside.

Sabic produced and sold in Europe, four million tons of petrochemicals. Two million tons are imported from Saudi Arabia. Sabic plans to increase its production from 43 million tons to 60 million tons of polymers. It will be built new plants still worth 40 billion U.S. dollars. In 2004, the net profit of 3.8 billion dollars and generated revenues of 18.4 billion U.S. dollars.

  • Basic chemicals ( methanol, ethanol, ethylene, propylene, benzene, xylene, methyl tertiary butyl ether ( MTBE), styrene, 1,3-butadiene, 1-butene )
  • Intermediates ( ethylene glycols, dichloroethene, vinyl chloride ( monomer of PVCs), sodium hydroxide, dioctyl phthalate )
  • Polyolefins ( polyethene and Polypropen )
  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC ) and polyester (polystyrene, polycarbonate (e.g., Lexan ®), melamine, etc.)
  • Fertilizers (urea, ammonia, phosphates, etc. )
  • Metals ( steel, aluminum)

Newer products are plastic construction materials, wallpapers, bookbinding glue, synthetic leather.

Sabic has research departments in Riyadh, Al- Jubail, for all areas, which is based in Riyadh.
