Saint-Allouestre

Saint- Allouestre ( Breton: Sant - Aleustr ) is a commune of 633 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the Local Government Association, Saint -Jean- Brévelay Communauté.

Geography

Saint- Allouestre located in the southern part of Brittany in the center of the department of Morbihan and belongs to the Pays de Pontivy.

Neighboring municipalities are Radenac in the northeast, Buléon in the east, the south and southwest, and Bignan Moréac in the northwest.

Through the community, the N24 runs from Lorient to Rennes. In the south-north direction, the D11 from Saint -Jean- Brévelay is the most important link to Rohan.

The river and the streams Claie Sainte -Anne and Keriolas are the main waters of the municipality. Along the streams is partially on the municipal boundary.

Demographics

History

Saint- Allouestre is first mentioned in 1280 under the name of Saint- Argoestle. The municipality belongs to the historic region of Brittany Bro - Gwened (French Vannetais ) and within this region to region Bro Baod (French Pays de Baud) and shares his story. From 1801 until its dissolution on 10 September 1926, she was part of the arrondissement Ploërmel. From 1793 until its dissolution in 1801 Saint- Allouestre belonged to the Canton Bignan. Since then, the church is assigned to the District of Saint -Jean- Brévelay.
