Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois

Saint- Bauzille -de- Putois ( Occitan: Sent Bausèli ) is a commune in the department of Hérault in the Languedoc- Roussillon region.

The terrain of the municipality covers 18.16 km ², and is drained by the Hérault. From Ganges seen from that marks the entrance to the Cevennes, the village is located about ten kilometers to the south, on the road to Montpellier.

The municipality has 1701 inhabitants (1 January 2011 ), called " Saint- Bauzillois ".

As a landmark, the Cave of the Demoiselles is the most famous tourist attraction.

Legal unclear is the origin of the place name. During the holy name refers to a martyr of Nîmes, " putois " can be traced back to the medieval citations to " Puits " (wells ) or to a locally common wild plant.
