Sakharov Prize
The Sakharov Prize for Freedom (also EU human rights prize named ) has been awarded since 1988 by the European Parliament to individuals or organizations committed to the defense of human rights and freedom of expression. The award is named after Nobel Peace Andrei Sakharov and endowed with 50,000 euros. It is awarded annually in December in Strasbourg.
