Sakoïra is a rural municipality in the Department Tilabéri in Niger.

Geography

Sakoïra located in the southern Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Anzourou and Bibiyergou in the north, and Ouallam Tondikiwindi in the east, the south and Kourteye Sinder and Tilabéri in the West. The municipality is divided into seven administrative villages, 41 hamlets and four bearings. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village Sakoïra.

History

In the 19th century Sakoïra suffered raids from the Zarma N'Dounga. 1899 reached the place as part of the newly created circle Sinder under French military administration. 1905 Sakoïra was the military territory of Niger connected, which spawned the French Niger Colony and finally the independent Republic of Niger. The rural community Sakoïra originated as an administrative unit at a nationwide administrative reform in 2002. Tilabéri Here, the Canton / Sakoïra was dissolved and divided its territory to the communities Sakoïra, Bibiyergou and Tilabéri. Floods in 2008 several houses and huts were destroyed and flooded fields. 784 inhabitants were classified as injured.

Economy and infrastructure
