Sales (Haute-Savoie)

Sales is a commune in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Sales is located at 420 m above sea level. M., near Rumilly, about 13 km west of the town of Annecy (air line). This former farm extends in the foothills on a hill east of the Chéran, wide trough of Albanais between the Montagne du Gros Foug the west and the Semnoz in the east.

The area of ​​9.21 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The northern boundary runs mostly along the winding course of the Fier, it flows in a wide valley from east to west. From Val de Fier, the municipality's area extends southward over a gently undulating landscape to the Chéran. Overall, the region has in the Basin of Rumilly only minor relief differences. History

The territory of Sales was already inhabited during the Roman period, which could be detected by several finds, including an inscription basis. In the 14th century the village was first mentioned in a document.

Attractions

The three-nave parish church of Saint -Pierre in 1964, rebuilt in historicizing Romanesque- Gothic style. In the area of sales, there are several stately homes, including the Château des Balmes ( in the 19th century transformed ) (built in 1667, now a working farm ) and the former Château de l' Annonciade.

Population

With 1680 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Sales is one of the smaller towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 743 residents counted in sales ). Since the early 1960s, however, a significant increase in population was recorded again.

Economy and infrastructure
