Sally Oldfield

Sally Patricia Oldfield (* August 3, 1947 [NB 1] in Dublin) is an Irish singer and composer. She is the elder sister of Mike Oldfield. Your music she writes mostly yourself, you can classify between folk and New Age. Sometimes they can be incorporated Celtic motifs and could be considered in some ways a precursor to Enya or Loreena McKennitt, even if it has not developed so far found less high profile and the public interest.

Biography

Sally Oldfield founded together with her brother Mike in 1967, the folk duo The Sallyangie. The collaboration lasted for different artistic interests but only briefly, so with "Children of the Sun" just an album of the duo was released.

Her solo career began in 1978 with the album Water Bearer and the single mirrors. Were also successful the next two LPs and the pieces Celebration and mandala. Some of her later albums were produced in Germany and tend in musical terms of content and strong towards the mainstream. More recently, Sally Oldfield seems to be more strongly oriented to the Anglo-American world and move their image more towards " esoteric ".
