Salvador Reyes Monteón

Salvador Reyes Monteón ( born September 20, 1936 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, † December 29, 2012 ) was a Mexican footballer, who played 1952-1967 for Chivas Guadalajara and part of the legendary team was that between the nine 1957 and 1965 seven Mexican champion and was given the nickname " Campeonísimo ". He was also known by his nickname " Chava " (girl).

Career

Chava Reyes was a talented offensive player who can be used on any position in the midfield and attack. In fact, he once played as a right center half and sometimes as a left winger, depending on where it was just needed. However, its actual master position was the role of center forward. There he could best realize his goalscoring what his total of 122 goals testify for his hometown club Chivas Guadalajara, whose leading scorer, he has remained to this day.

Reyes, one of the biggest idols in the history of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, however, was not only up to his death scorer of his club, but was also one of the outstanding players of his time in Mexico. Family

Salvador Reyes Monteón was the son of football player Luis Reyes Ayala, who also was in the 1940s at Chivas Guadalajara under contract, and the father of Salvador Luis Reyes, who with Universidad de Guadalajara won the 1991 Mexican Cup competition and in the 1995/96 season also played for Chivas.
