Sam Warner

Sam Warner ( born August 10, 1887 in Krasnosielc, Poland, † October 5, 1927 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American film producer.

Life

Sam Warner was the son of Jewish immigrants from Poland. Sam was already interested in early films. He persuaded his father in 1903 to buy a movie projector and a copy of the early western The Great Train Robbery. He showed the film in a small shop in Ohio. This was our entry into the film business. With his older brothers Harry M. Warner and Albert Warner, he opened his first movie theater. Even before the First World War, Sam went along with the youngest brother, Jack L. Warner to California. Sam built from 1918 to the first film studio Warner Brothers, which were eventually established as a production company in 1923. He was a driving force in the brothers team in the technical field.

The older brothers operated the financial business on the east coast, while he advanced the productions with Jack. Mid-1920s, he saw the first of the major producers in Hollywood, the future for the movie in the sound film. He persuaded his brothers to invest in this new technology and as the first talkie was The Jazz Singer with Al Jolson in the lead role. Warner could not live to see the breakthrough itself. He died one day before the New York world premiere of the film in Los Angeles. His brother Jack took over from then on the management of the studios in Hollywood solely responsible. Sam Warner was married to actress Lina Basquette since 1925 and left behind a one year old daughter.
