San Maurizio d'Opaglio

San Maurizio d' Opaglio ( Piedmontese San Mauritsi, Lombard San Maurizi ) is a municipality with 3087 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) on the southwestern shores of Lake Orta in the Italian province of Novara (NO ), Region Piedmont.

The municipality consists of the villages Sazza, Pascolo, Lagna, Alpiolo, Opagliolo, Bacchiore, Briallo, Pianelli, Vacchetta, Raveglia, Niverate and San Maurizio d' Opaglio. The neighboring municipalities are Gozzano, Madonna del Sasso (VB), Orta San Giulio, Pella and Pogno.

The patron saint of the place is San Maurizio.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude of 373 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of ​​8 km ².

Attractions

  • Museum of the faucet (Museo del Rubinetto, founded in 1995 ). In the 20th century San Maurizio d' Opaglio became known as the "Capital of the faucet ."
