Sands Hotel and Casino

The Sands Hotel was a U.S. hotel in Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip. It was opened on 15 December 1952. Thus, it was the seventh hotel, which was built on the Las Vegas Strip. Like neighboring Desert Inn, it was in the 1960s, the industrialist Howard Hughes. On June 30, 1996, the Sands Hotel was closed and demolished soon after. On the surface, the Venetian Resort Hotel was built.

In his best days, it was the epitome of "cool" in Las Vegas. Among the greats from the world of music who played here were Frank Sinatra, who gave his show Sinatra at the Sands there, and Sammy Davis, Jr. The two lived like the other members of the Rat Pack in the hotel, as the 1960 version was filmed Ocean's Eleven.
