St. Georgen am Walde (also Sankt Georgen am Walde ) is a market town in Upper Austria in Perg district in Upper Austria with 2078 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality counts since 2003 to the Judicial District Perg ( previously the former district court Grein ). The location of the competent District Court is located in Perg

Geography

St. Georgen am Walde is located at 787 meters altitude in the Upper Austria. The expansion is 8.6 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 12.1 km. The total area is 53.5 km ². 52.1 % of the area is forested, 44.7 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality of Austria above the Enns attributed.
