History

Breakfast time

The originating from the Stone Age finds on the boundary of Sântana are valid evidence for the assumption that in this area as early as the Stone Age 4,000 years ago people lived. The flat land around Sântana has only in the south against Arad on larger surveys; the " Avars Hill ", now called " Cetatea Veche ".

Here were found, such as on a pole fortified stone chisel, which served as weapons lances, Stag handles and fired stone balls. From the Bronze Age absent evidence of the existence of a population in the region Arad.

After Jordanis Clos became a part of Dacia - between Mureş and Criş - attacked after the withdrawal of the Romans towards the end of the 3rd century by the Germanic Vandals and occupied. After the expulsion of the Vandals by the Goths, the Huns invaded this area. The " pot of gold of Saint Anna " proves that in this area even at the time of the Huns lived Germans.

After the year 566, the area fell to the clans of the Avar " Khan Bayan " and was part of a new state structure, the Avar Empire. Erdeinbrennungen that have been found here are the main features of Awarenfestungen. In the documents from the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries, the original settlement of Sântana, namely Komlosch, not yet mentioned. From the 14th and 15th centuries is known that there are many monasteries and convents were in the area and rich nobles lived in fortified dwellings.

On April 21, 1888 promoted earthworks on the railway line Arad - Saint Anne of the Awarenring several items to light: a fired clay pot, the remains of a human skeleton, a grave next to several items of gold. The most important subject presented a forged gold ring it supersedes composed of 12 laurel leaves that were mounted on a tire bracelet. To this fund still has a tire strap and an occupied with massive gold rings bracelet. All items are now in the Museum of Budapest.

Publications (published in the years 1950 to 1970) report that during excavations at the station of Sântana broken clay pots and a burned cup of specific material Dacian origin were found. These ceramic fragments can certainly assign the gray ceramic made by bike. In addition, vessels with calcified bone, curved knives made of steel and a primer in each of gold, steel and bronze were found in a coffin. Based on these findings and the funeral rituals of the then director of the Museum of Arad, Egon Dörner concluded that there must have been a settlement here free Dacians from the 2nd and 3rd centuries.

Archaeological finds from the excavations that were carried out in the presence of professors Aneta Cordos and John Gehl on the grounds of the village school Sântana prove that the territory to Sântana is to be regarded as part of the Romanian settlement history.

Method of construction

The planners of the Vienna Ärars designed the village plan for Santa Anna. Taking a look at the so-called "checkerboard village plan" of Neusanktanna from 1783 /84 as it is immediately apparent that the individual plots have different expansions. The planners put in the middle of the village on an oversized square, around which are grouped the square plots. This laid the foundation of a country town had already been laid. The arrived in Santa Anna in the 18th century, settlers had to rely on self-help and personal initiative. What they needed for building a house, they found: earth, wood and straw.
