Savonlinnan Pallokerho (short SaPKo ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey club based in Savonlinna, which was founded in 1929. History
Savonlinnan Pallokerho was founded in 1929. 1952, the Hockey Department was established that in the SM - sarja, the then top division, took part in the 1960s. In 1968 the team reached the finals of the Finnish Cup competition, in which it was subject KooVee with 2:10. 1971 was followed by the relegation to the second division, the Suomi- sarja.
In 1974 the Finnish league system was reformed and SaPKo was one of the teams that were assigned to the new I- divisioona. In the following years SaPKo usually played in the second division, but also rose in the third league, the II - divisioona, off and back on.
In the 1994/95 season the team reached to Brian Tutt qualification for SM- liiga against Ilves, but failed at the first-class club from Tampere. In subsequent years, the team could not play more anknüpgen success and to eventually rose in the third game class that Suomi- sarja. Only in 2006, managed to rise again in the Mestis, in the SaPKo plays since then.
