Sargis Hovsepyan

Sarkis Hovsepyan (Armenian Սարգիս Հովսեփյան, in scientific transliteration Sargis Hovsepyan; born November 2, 1972 in Yerevan ) is a former Armenian football player and current most-capped player in his country. Following his playing career he has worked as Kotrainer FC Pjunik Yerevan, the last club of his playing career.

Career

Hovsepyan began his career at smaller Armenian clubs. With Homenetmen Yerevan he played in the highest Armenian League and won for the first time the Armenian championship there. In the 1995/1996 season he was this item with the club from Yerevan, which had been renamed the Pjunik, win again.

After the second title win in 1998, he moved to Russia for Zenit St. Petersburg, where he played in the Russian Premier League and in the 1998/1999 season won the Russian Cup. In 2003 he moved to Torpedo - Metallurg Moscow.

In 2004 he returned to seven years in Russia to Armenia back and played again since then for Pjunik. On September 20, 2012, he ended his career with this club.

Hovsepyan made ​​his international debut on 14 October 1992 against Moldova in the first official international match in Armenia after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Thereafter, however, he was not called up again in 1994. Since 1994 he is the undisputed master player in the Armenian team. He made his 100th international match on October 11, 2008 in the World Cup qualifier against Belgium. He made his last international match on November 14, 2012 against Lithuania. He is currently Armenia's most capped player with 131 inserts.
