Sauerland-Express
The Sauerland - Express is a regional express line that leads from Hagen to Kassel- Wilhelm height and shall be appointed by VRR, VRL, nph and NPT. It is operated by DB Regio NRW with railcars of series 612 and 628.4 and is popular with tourists and users of the beautiful weekend tickets.
With the future procurement operation from December 2016, the line is part of the Sauerland network.

Between Hagen and Kassel -Wilhelm height every two hours is offered, which is compressed between Warburg and Hagen for an hour. On the rounds to Kassel doing railcars arrive Series 612 for use on rounds to Warburg such Series 628.4. In addition, Fridays and Sundays run some special trains to Willingen. Together with the RE57 arises from Monday to Friday on the section Fröndenberg - Bestwig half hour.
On the section Warburg - Kassel has the RE 17 since the timetable change on December 15, 2013 only in Hofgeismar a stopover in particular to be accounted for also stop at Hauptbahnhof Kassel. Thus, the travel time to Kassel -Wilhelm height shortened by up to 13 minutes.
Traction history
Previously, this line was traversed with locomotives of the series 218 and n- cars. Partly also railcars of series 624 were used. The Warburg rounds were changed mid-1990s to the range 628.4. The new millennium, the locomotive-hauled trains from the Kassel rounds were converted to the series 612. Individual train movements to Willingen drove to 2006 with Class 218
Future
Tender operation from 2016
The operation of the Sauerland - Express from December 2016Vorlage: Future / In 2 years as part of the Sauerland network ( in Lot 1 ) was announced. The contract was to be DB Regio, used DMUs of type LINK ( II or III), the Polish manufacturer PESA. Tours of the Sauerland - Express between Warburg and Kassel are reduced thereby, should instead this type of transport through the extension of the RE 11 ( Dusseldorf - Paderborn - Kassel Wilhelm height; " Rhein- Hellweg - Express" ) are provided.
Line Description
The line operates from Hagen to Warburg on the Upper Ruhrtalbahn. In Warburg it changes to the Friedrich -Wilhelms- Northern Railway, also known as Hessian Northern Railway.
