Saußbach

(On some sections called Saußwasser ) The Saußbach is a brook in Lower Bavaria Freyung -Grafenau.

Course

The Saußbach arises from the devil Bach and the Bach Roth. In forest mill east of High tubes of Roth Bach meets from north to Teufelsbach. From Mauth the creek flows to Annathal ( Mauth ) and heads towards Freyung. There the Saußbach flows around a rocky outcrop on which the castle is Wolfenstein. Then the waters in a canyon (the Buchberger Leite ) occurs. At the beginning of the gorge of the Saußbach is dammed to a lake and most of the water for power generation in a tunnel passed (see Carbidwerk Freyung ). About the dam spans more than 50 m high bridge on which the B 12 runs. About two kilometers further meets the creek on the Reschbach and together with this the Wolfsteiner Ohe.

Use

Like many streams in the area was formerly used for timber rafting the Saußbach. Today, several small water power plants use the river for power generation.
