Schorsch Kamerun

Schorsch Kamerun (* 1963 in Timmendorfer beach; actually Thomas Sehl ) is a German singer, writer, theater director and club owners. His stage name is a parody of the naming of the singer of the ( dissolved 1986), American punk band Dead Kennedys, Jello Biafra of the calls himself.

Life and work

Schorsch Kamerun has lived since the early 1980s in Hamburg, now also in Munich. He was a founding member in 1984 and is still lead singer of the punk band Hamburger Golden lemons. In addition, he has also released solo albums. Together with Rocko Schamoni he also operates the Golden Poodle Club in Hamburg. The mid-nineties they had in common the television series poodle Overnight on 3Sat ( was modified in the winter of 2001 continued ). In the winter semester 2010/11 he is a visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.

Theater

For several years he has also worked as a theater director and author. Based on the plays he also wrote several radio plays for the WDR. There he gave his 2003 debut radio play with the piece Hanns Eisler ( 1898-1962 ) - Hollywood Elegies and was nominated for the Prix Italia directly. In 2007 he received an image of man, which in its sum to zero yields the Hörspielpreis the Kriegsblinden for his radio play. In the theater season 2007/2008 he led the Schauspielhaus Zurich directed his project biology of anxiety.

In December 2010, Cameroon launched a series of " invention evenings ", a mix of conversation, concert and performance. The first evening was titled Get me out of here (I'm here in front of the wall) on December 11, 2010 in the arcade of the chamber Games in Munich. In early March 2012, he released his latest project, a " musical theater " search with the title The Disappeared of Altona, in Hamburg's Thalia Theatre on the Bühne.Am October 5, 2012 his concert installation Sender Freies Dusseldorf was premiered at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus, in which he deals with modern communication.
