Schwaigen

Schwaigen is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch -Partenkirchen and a member of the administrative community Ohlstadt.

Geography

Schwaigen lies in the Oberland region and consists of the village of Grafenaschau ( Kirchdorf ) and the hamlets and farms behind- Braunau, Braunau front, Apfelbichel, Plaicken and fox hole. Scenic will be limited from north to south extending scattered settlement and the village Grafenaschau from Murnau or Eschenloher moss in the east and by the mountains of the eastern Alps Oberammergau ( Hoernle, Aufacker Aschauer and mountain ) in the west.

History

Schwaigen belonged to the repeal of the former imperial free Ettal monastery in 1803 to the court Murnau.

Population Development

On the territory of the municipality were 1970 418, 1987, 556 and 2000 counted 621 inhabitants in the year.

Policy

The council consists of eight members and the mayor, all belonging to an independent group of voters since the last election.

Tourism

By Grafenaschau runs with the Maximiliansweg the E4 European long distance path. It leads to the municipality in the west over the crack to the rear Hoernle and south along the Murnau moss. In the town itself a trip café and several apartments is available.

Traffic

A breakpoint is located on the Ammergaubahn named " Grafenaschau ". This is, however, in the Murnau district Westried, about 2.5 km from the district Schwaigener Grafenaschau.
