Sebadoh

Sebadoh is an indie band from Massachusetts, United States. Along with Pavement and Guided by Voices applies the band was founded in 1986 as one of the pioneers of lo-fi.

History

Originally Sebadoh was a side project of Lou Barlow, bassist of Dinosaur Jr. So the first recordings were published as a supplement to the second album of the band. After Barlow Dinosaur had left in 1989, Sebadoh soon developed into an independent band. With recording in a home recording process it quickly became a pioneer in the emerging lo-fi movement of the early 1990s: easiest recording technology, folk, experimental psychedelic rock, focusing on songwriting and melodies.

Worth mentioning is the inexhaustible repertoire: according to own data writes Barlow annually around 200 songs. In the New York Times, he said:

"I believe we write to exorcise our demons, but as far as my lyrics, I 'm a total exhibitionist. "

After the album The Sebadoh (1999) to Barlow focused on his project Folk Implosion. 2007 there was a reunion tour of Sebadoh in the USA. 2011 albums Bakesale and Harmacy were re-released. Drummer Eric Gaffney was replaced by Bob D' Amico, who played with Jason Loewenstein already in the bands Circle of Buzzards and Fiery Furnaces.

In July 2012, there was again a sign of life of the band: as a taster for a new album to be released in 2013, Secret EP was released with five new songs.

Trivia

The first album of the German band Sharon Stoned, License To Confuse, is named after the opening track of the album Bakesale. Both albums were released in 1994.
