The Selland Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the California city of Fresno, United States. The hall is part of the Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center.

History

Was named the hall after the former mayor of Fresno, Arthur L. Selland. Initially, it had a seating capacity of 6,500 seats. In 1981 it was expanded to 11,300 seats for 10 million U.S. dollars. In November 2006, the company invested 15 million U.S. dollars into a renovation. The seating was replaced, installed a new video scoreboard, and installed a new cooling system for the ice hockey playing surface. Various events were held in more than 40 years since it opened. Sports such as, inter alia, Hockey, basketball, arena football or wrestling took place there. That was 1996, the WWF with the wrestling event Royal Rumble in Fresno as a guest. Furthermore occurred in concerts such as Tom Petty, No Doubt, Metallica, Rush, Korn, Garth Brooks, Hilary Duff and Van Halen on.

On January 27, 2010, the Fresno Monsters and the operators of the Selland Arena agreed further use of the arena by the hockey team until the end of the season 2012/13.

Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center

In addition to the Selland Arena include more facilities for Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center. Thus, the William Saroyan Theatre with 2,359 seats in the on 14 October 1966 took place the opening concert. In addition, ballets, musicals such as Cats, Evita and Chicago and concerts of the Philharmonic Freso took place. Among the artists included, inter alia, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Lang Lang, Arthur Fiedler, Isaac Stern, Itzhak Perlman, David Copperfield and Jerry Seinfeld.

The Fresno Convention Center is a conference center, opposite the Selland Arena with a grand ball and banquet facilities for up to 1,200 people. The room can be divided into seven smaller rooms.

The Ernest E. Valdez Hall (formerly Exibit Hall ) is an exhibition hall, among other things, for fairs, exhibitions, political events, banquets or weddings Events are used.
