Sepp Mayerl

Sepp Mayerl ( born April 14, 1937 in Göriach at Doelsach, East Tyrol, † July 28, 2012 in the Lienz Dolomites at Lavant ) was an Austrian mountaineer.

Sepp Mayerl - after his parents' farm names in circles climber known as " Blasl Sepp " - was a professional roofer and steeple restorer. In the 1960s he achieved numerous first ascents in the Dolomites and the East Tyrolean mountains. The up to now most famous of his first ascents is the Mayerlrampe in the northeast wall of the Grossglockner.

He died while climbing in the north wall of the Eagle ridge in the Lienz Dolomites, when he crashed of unknown causes.
