Sergei Gusev

Sergei Vladimirovich Gusev (Russian Гусев Сергей Владимирович; born July 31, 1975 in Nizhny Tagil, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is since August 2012 in Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Sergei Gusev began his career as a hockey player with ZSK WWS Samara, for whom he made ​​his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1994/95 season. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 in the third round than a total of 69 players from the Dallas Stars. First, however, he spent two years playing for their farm team, the Michigan K- Wings of the International Hockey League. From 1997 to 1999 the defender was also responsible for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League on the ice before he was released to the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he played until 2001 in the NHL.

Then the links Sagittarius returned to Russia were home in which he was taken from Severstal Cherepovets under contract by which he was runner-up in the 2002/03 season. In the summer of 2004, Gusev has been committed by the then reigning champions Avangard Omsk HK, with whom he 2005 IIHF European Champions Cup won after he had prevailed with his team in the final against Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM- liiga. In the season 2005/06, the former NHL player moved his team into the final of the Super League, where they were subject to Ak Bars Kazan. In June 2011, the Russians received a one-year contract with Avangard Omsk HK. After expiry of the contract Gusev moved within the KHL to Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg.

Internationally

For Russia, Gusev participated in the Junior World Cup in 1995 and the World Championships in 2002, 2003 and 2005 in part.
