Shanaze Reade

Shanaze Danielle Reade ( born September 23, 1988 in Crewe) is a British track cyclist, BMX rider and five times World Champion.

Shanaze Reade began at the age of ten years, first with BMX racing; their local role model in Crewe was the 15 year old cyclist Jamie Staff. 2005, 17 years, they denied the " National Series " against men. Shortly before the World Championships, she broke her knee and yet went to the quarterfinals with. Her first professional race of "American Bicycle Association " they won on 1 April 2006. During the same year, she led the British rankings " men over 19 and Elite " although she was only 17.

In August 2006, Shanaze Reade was despite an injured foot BMX Junior World Champion. Overall, she was able to win three world championships, eight European Championships and five British titles in BMX racing. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she participated as a favorite on the inaugural BMX racing, but could not finish the final race because of a fall.

2007 and 2008 respectively Reade won world titles on the track as well as BMX. In 2007 she won the World Championship in the team sprint in Palma de Mallorca, together with Victoria Pendleton. This success could the two riders in fact, repeat at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester.

Shanaze Reade was in 2007, the Irish- Jamaican origin, is appointed by the "Sunday Times" for "Young Sportswoman of the Year".
