Shaun the Sheep

Shaun the Sheep is an animated using stop-motion Anglo- German television series produced by Aardman Animations ( known inter alia, by Wallace & Gromit ). Head writer, director and creative director is the English animator Richard Goleszowski.

Since April 2007 she is running in Germany in KiKA and individually in the First and in the framework of the program with the mouse. In Austria, ORF shows one the series since the end of May 2007.

The Sheep Shaun first appears in an episode of Wallace & Gromit in which it is accidentally shaved. This results in reference to the English shorn ( " clipped " ) to its name.

The series consists to date (2014) of six squadrons each with 20 episodes.

In January 2014 Aardman and STUDIO CANAL began with the production of the first film " Shaun the Sheep The Movie ", which will be released in 2015 worldwide.

Description of the Series

Shaun, namesake of the series, is a curious, mischievous sheep. The flock of sheep living together with the sheepdog Bitzer, the farmers, three nasty pigs and various other animals on a farm idyllic. The animals in the series show human behavior, but the sheep are trying to ensure that the farmer does not notice what they are doing, and therefore behave like "normal" animals when he observed them.

In the consequences of everyday occurrences lead the sheep under the leadership of Shaun's in ludicrous situations from which arises the humor of the series. The individual episodes are relatively short (6 minutes without opening and closing credits ) and complete in itself, so give up a follow overarching story arc, but not on running gags. The series offers slapstick and situation comedy, coupled with lovely details and allusions to cinematic classics, and does not need to completely spoken text. The people appear from the perspective of the animals and therefore give only unintelligible sounds whose meaning is only conveyed through sound and gesture.

All episodes were produced in two versions - with 7 minutes or 5 minutes in length. The 7 -minute versions of each 6 minutes of animation and 1 minute titles and credits, the 5-minute versions include 4 minutes and 1 minute animated titles and scrolling credits. The 5-minute versions exist, since some stations a 7- minute program can not accommodate in their broadcasting schedules and was therefore asked for a shorter version. Aardman denotes the 7 -minute versions as the "Director's Cut" and also admits that some of the shorter versions do not work as intended, since they were written for two minutes longer duration.

Others

How many Aardman animation productions distinguished by the serial wealth of detail, so that some subtleties only noticeable at second glance. This is also a recurrent error in the scene image of the Farmer house: From the inside the front door has a pet door from the outside, not usually. Particularly striking is the in Shaun as a farmer after Shaun knocks on the door. The door usually goes on inside, not only at cleaning up when the farmer opens it, and regularly in the opening credits, in which she gets Bitzer 's nose.

On 6 April 2009 began in the UK to broadcast the spin off Timmy Time, in the stories about Shaun's nephew Timmy and his friends are told. The target audience for this series are preschoolers. In Germany this series " Timmy " is since 12 January 2010 SUPER RTL under the title aired.
