Shenandoah Valley AVA

Shenandoah Valley AVA ( recognized since 28 December 1982) is a wine region in the U.S. states of Virginia and West Virginia The area extends over the valley Shenandoah Valley, in the east by the Blue Ridge Mountains and on the west by the Appalachian Mountains and Allegheny Mountains is limited. The majority of the wine growing area lies on the floor of Virginia, while the proportion of West Virginia is located on the Eastern Panhandle said part.

Because of the cool climate, there are a significant proportion of hybrid vines (such as Chambourcin, ...) and autochthonous descendants of American wild vines.
