Shirley Walker

Shirley Walker ( born April 10, 1945 in Napa, California, USA, † November 30, 2006 in Los Angeles ) was an American composer, conductor, pianist and producer.

Life

After studying music at San Francisco State College, she worked with various hotel and jazz bands. After that, she was a pianist at the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and the Cabrillo Festival Orchestra.

Her film career began as a synthesizer player for the soundtrack to the film Apocalypse Now. In addition, she composed the theme song for the television series Superman and Viper. She worked as a conductor for some film music by Danny Elfman, among other things, for his Batman movie soundtracks, until their director John Carpenter gave the chance to write her first own score for a Hollywood film to produce even and direct. Afterwards she went further than Filmmusikkomponistin and wrote among other things the scores to Escape from LA ( John Carpenter's Escape from LA) and the first three Final Destination movies. In addition, she was responsible for music in the series Space 2063 and the comedy The kicking garbage man.

In 1967 she married Don Walker, they have two sons, Colin ( b. 1970 ) and Ian (born 1972 ). Shirley Walker died on 30 November 2006 at the age of 61 years from the effects of a brain aneurysm.
