Shunsuke Nakamura

Shunsuke Nakamura (Japanese中 村 俊 辅Nakamura Shunsuke; * June 24, 1978 in Yokohama ) is a Japanese football player.

Club career

Nakamura began his professional career in the J. League at the Yokohama F. Marinos, where he played until 2002. He then moved to Italian club Reggina Calcio, who had just gained in the Serie A. During the three years in Reggina Nakamura often had to deal with injuries, also the club could not be released from the lower regions of the table.

2005 Nakamura then moved to Scottish club Celtic FC after he had been courted among others by the Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund. For the fans of Celtic Nakamura enjoyed great popularity, among other things, its excellent free-kick technique. In 2007 he was elected Celtic Player of the Year as well as Scotland's Player of the Year. With Celtic he won three times, the Scottish Cup, the Scottish League Cup twice and even the Scottish Cup.

After his contract expired at Celtic with the end of the season 2008/ 09, Nakamura joined Espanyol on a free transfer. In February 2010 he returned to his native Japan and moved to Yokohama Marinos.

National
