Sidia Jatta

Sidia Sana Jatta (even with the spelling Sedia Jatta ) (* 1945) is a Gambian politician and party leader of the People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism ( PDOIS ). In the newspaper Foroyaa he is an editor.

Political life

Sidia Jatta, a trained educationist, in 1986 founded the party PDOIS and became its elected Chairman in December 1987 as a presidential candidate, he stepped up to the elections in 1992 and 1996 but won only a few votes (1992: . 5.2 % 1996: 2.9 %), even in the 2001 presidential election he was able to achieve only 2.9 % of the vote.

For the election of Parliament in 1997, he was successfully treated for his district Wuli, he won 48.9 % of votes. He could not repeat that success in 2002. For the general elections of 2007, the PDOIS the coalition National Alliance for Democracy and Development ( NADD ) joined, the one -won seat takes a Jatta.
