Sielnica

Sielnica (Hungarian Szélnye - to 1888 Szelnic ) is a town in central Slovakia with 1339 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and belongs to Okres Zvolen, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický.

Geography

The municipality is located in the valley at the foot of the west Zvolenska kotlina lying Kremnitz mountains. Through the town of Bach Sielnický Brook, a tributary of the Hron flows. The center is located at an altitude of 347 m nm and is located seven kilometers from Zvolen and 12 kilometers from Banská Bystrica.

History

Sielnica was first mentioned in 1250 as Zelnitz writing. It was initially a place in the territory of Sohler castle and its inhabitants were Köhler. 1397 the first church was built in Gothic style. 1828 are listed 61 houses and 485 inhabitants.

After the Second World War, many dachas emerged above the village.
