Sierra Hull

Sierra Hull ( born September 27, 1991 Byrdstown, Tennessee) is an American bluegrass musician who began her career as a " prodigy ". My main instrument is the mandolin, but it also plays guitar and sings.

Hull grew up in a musical family in Pickett County in rural Tennessee and got to the age of eight by her grandmother paid a mandolin. A year later, the guitar came about. She played with her family and began in 2001 to participate in local music competitions. Ron Block of Alison Krauss ' band Union Station, she learned at a festival know and brought them together with Krauss, whom she invited to attend a performance by the band at the Grand Ole Opry.

After she had her first CD Angel Mountain brought out as an independent production, she signed in 2002 with 13 years with Rounder Records. At 14 she began to sing and to go with her band Highway 111 on tour. The band consists of her brother Cody Hull ( guitar), Cory Walker ( banjo / dobro ) and John Fox ( bass). Their second album, Secrets appeared at Rounder 2008, produced by Alison Krauss and Ron Block. On this album, playing among other things, Dan Tyminski, Barry Bales and Jerry Douglas of Union Station, as well as other well known bluegrass musicians such as Tony Rice.

In 2009, she received a Presidential Scholarship from Berklee College of Music.
