The Silk Way Airlines ( Silk Way. Engl for Silk Road ) is an Azerbaijani cargo airline. The airline was founded in 2001 and adopted on 6 October 2001 with regular and charter flights to operate on. It is native to the capital Baku Airport. Since April 2009 she is the first azerbaidschanische private airline by airplane to be certified according to quality standard ISO 9001. His clients include the last few years, the Bundeswehr, which can be transported by military Silk Way goods.
The end of 2011 acquired the Silkway Airlines cargo hangar at Frankfurt-Hahn Airport.

Incidents
On July 6, 2011, an Ilyushin IL -76 crashed ( aircraft registration mark: 4K - AZ55 ) during a cargo flight from Baku (Azerbaijan ) to Bagram Air Base (Afghanistan) during the approach into a mountain and burned out. None of the nine crew members survived the crash.
