Similkameen River

The Similkameen River is a river in the south of the Canadian province of British Columbia, which flows south of Oroville in the U.S. state of Washington in the Okanagan River; therefore it belongs to the system of the Columbia River.

The river rises in the E. C. Manning Provincial Park in the Cascade Range, the tortuous course of the valley follows the British Columbia Highway 3 ( Crowsnest Highway ) to the reserve of the Lower Similkameen band; the border to the USA is crossed south of Keremeos at ( ⊙ 49-119.7 ). The river separates the one hand, the main chain of the Cascade Mountains of the Okanagan Range, as well as those of the Thompson Plateau. Main tributaries of the Similkameen River are Pasayten River, Tulameen River and Ashnola River.
