Simone Venier

Simone Venier ( born August 26, 1984 in Latina ) is an Italian rower who was 2008 Olympic silver medalist in the quadruple sculls.

Career

Venier began in 1994 with the rowing. He was with the Italian sculls third at the Junior World Championships, the year after the boat won the title in 2001. 2004 belonged to the 1.96 m wide Venier the Italian sculls in the adult class and finished at the Olympic Games in Athens in tenth place. 2006 won Venier in the aft the bronze medal at the U23 World Championships, soon after he took to the sculls fourth place at the World Championships in Eton. 2007 Venier went to the World Championships in the double sculls and finished with Jean Smerghetto the eighteenth place. At the European Championships in 2007, the Italian foursome with double Luca Ghezzi, Federico Gattinoni, Venier and Simone Raineri placed second behind the Russian boat.

In the Olympic year 2008, there was the Italian sculls from Agamennoni Luca, Simone Venier, Rossano Galtarossa and Simone Raineri. The boat won the World Cup regatta in Poznan, finishing at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 to second place behind the Polish boat. After a weak 2009, the Italian sculls took second place behind the Croatian quadruple sculls at the World Cup kick-off 2010 in Bled. At the European Championships of 2010, the Italian boat came in sixth, won at the World Championships in New Zealand Agamennoni Luca, Simone Venier, Matteo Stefanini and Simone Raineri the silver medal behind the Croats. 2011 reached the Italian sculls sixth place at the World Championships in Bled and fourth place at the European Championships in Plovdiv.
