Simply the Best is a compilation album by Tina Turner. It was published in October 1991 by Capitol Records. The album reached number 4 in Germany, # 2 in the UK, # 3 in Switzerland, 8th place in Austria and 113th place in the U.S..

History

Simply the Best summed up the biggest hits of Tina Turner since her comeback in the 1980s together and also offered some new songs. Among them were as 1991-1992 decoupled Singles Love Thing (UK Airplay Charts 13th), I Want You Near Me ( number 22 in the UK) and Way of the World (UK Airplay Charts 6th and 13th of the singles charts ). Also, a dance version of Turner's Nutbush City Limits hit one of them. The album is the UK 's best-selling of Turner - it ranks up there with 2.1 million copies sold of the best selling of all time. It got there 8 times platinum, and remained 140 weeks on the charts. Worldwide, more than 7 million copies were sold.

In the U.S., the album was released with a slightly modified track list. There Addicted to Love (Live) and Be Tender With Me Baby by What You Get Is What You See and Look Me in the Heart were replaced. In Australia, a Limited Edition was published with an additional bonus disc. There, a version of The Best was coupled in a duet with Jimmy Barnes. The title of the compilation is also taken from the refrain from The Best.

Criticism

On the website Allmusic.com critic gave 4.5 out of 5 stars. The album was an " almost perfect " Compilation of Turner's career after her comeback.
