SimulationX

SimulationX is a multidisciplinary CAE software for the simulation of physical-technical systems and equipment, developed and sold commercially by the ITI GmbH Dresden. Scientists and engineers from industry and academia put this program for the design, modeling, simulation, analysis and for virtual testing of complex mechatronic systems. On a single software platform, the program simulates the interaction of various physical effects - from 1D mechanics, multi-body systems and drive technology to machine dynamics, hydraulics, pneumatics and thermodynamics to electricity and magnetism as well as analog and digital control technology. One of the main areas of application are developments around the car drive train. For stationary powertrain simulation analysis, the solution was awarded the 2006 Tech Award " Best Product of Powertrain Simulation" SAE.

Areas and Libraries

The software supports Windows functionality and has pre-made model types in tool for modeling many different physical areas. These libraries classify models according to their physical and application-related properties. These models are ready for use as components for modeling complex relationships available. Hydraulic, pneumatic and electric actuators, as well as control systems can be integrated, for example, along with a multi-body system in the same model. In the course of calculating the behavior of all systems can be observed and analyzed. A practical example include systems in which fluid power control systems are used. This includes for example the construction machinery industry in which it comes to hydraulic controls, drives and kinematics. The system simulation software for system simulation forms individual components from as a whole system. It is suitable for simulating tribology and is used for energy efficiency analysis of systems and control concepts.

In the field of fluid technology, there is also a library that special components for the so-called sub-sea area contains ( Subsea Hydraulic, Subsea Electrical, offshore handling). This makes it possible, for example, the dynamic behavior of systems calculate for the promotion and distribution of crude oil and natural gas and analyze. Another application is the virtual test of systems for deepwater exploration and drilling, over- water supply, seismography and underwater structures and process technology under real conditions.

SimulationX supports the modeling language Modelica to internally created to simulate realistic ( sub) models. Models from the Modelica Standard Library or those based on the Modelica language can execute itself.

Interfaces

SimulationX has open, comprehensive CAx - interfaces to external programs of different applications, eg

  • CAE ( VehicleSim ( CarSim, BikeSim, TruckSim ) )
  • CAD ( SolidWorks, Pro / ENGINEER, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA )
  • CAM
  • Computer-aided optimization ( CAO ) (eg, Isight, modeFRONTIER, OptiY )
  • FEA / FEM ( Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL Multiphysics, MSC Nastran )
  • CFD

SimulationX supports the creation and import of Modelisar Functional Mockup Units. Standardized interfaces allow platform-independent exchange of simulation models and provide a flexible connection to external simulation tools and components.

The simulator coupling is a generic interface with predefined structure for connecting SimulationX to other CAE tools, such as MSC.Adams, SIMPACK, MATLAB / Simulink, Fluent, Cadmould, SCALE - RT. A COM interface allows communication between SimulationX and other Windows applications for user-defined batch processes, embedded simulation, parameter studies or optimizations. For a holistic structure and system analysis (equilibrium calculation, natural frequencies, mode shapes, transfer behavior ) tools are available.
