Å intava

Šintava ( Schintau German, Hungarian Sempte ) is a municipality in Okres Galánta in Trnavský Region in western Slovakia. It lies in the Danube plain in the left-bank floodplain of the Waag opposite the city of Sered at an altitude of about 135 meters.

The place is mentioned indirectly already 1074, but appears on a list by name until 1177, where also the castle Šintava is called. The first royal castle was of great importance for Hungary and later fell into the hands of families Rozgonyi, Thurzos and of Esterházy (from 1642). By changing the river course of the Waag, the castle is now in a park in Sered, she fell over the centuries and has been replaced by a classicist castle.

1957 was carved out of parts of the municipal area, the newly created municipality of Vinohrady nad Váhom.

See value in town is the Catholic church from the 18th century, which was then built to replace an older system.
