Sizwe Ndlovu

Sizwe Ndlovu Lawrence (born 24 September 1980 in Johannesburg) is a South African rower and Olympic champion in 2012 in the lightweight coxless four.

Ndlovu began in 1997 with the rowing and launched at the 1999 World Junior Championships. In 2002 he took the first time with the South African lightweight coxless four in part at the World Cup. His best results he achieved in 2005 with seventh places at the World Cup in Lucerne and at the World Championships in Gifu. An international A-final reached Ndlovu for the first time at the World Cup 2012 in Lucerne, as the South African lightweight coxless four with James Thompson, Matthew Brittain, John Smith and Sizwe Ndlovu came second behind the Chinese boat and from the British and Danes to the finish came.

In the 2012 Olympics, the Chinese did not reach the finals, the South African foursome with Thompson, Brittain, Smith and Ndlovu won Olympic Gold in front of the hosts from the UK and the Olympic title holders from Denmark. This gold medal was the first Olympic gold medal for South African rowers at all and the second medal after bronze in the coxless pairs in 2004.
