Although both towns go back to the Frederick's colonization of the 18th century in the woods, north of Brieg, the history of the two places took a separate development. The colony Alt- Moselache has already been created before 1750, the founding of the colony of New Moselache took place in 1772 through the city Brieg on municipal land with eight colonists places. The place name is to go back to colonists from the Mosel region. After the occupation by the Red Army in 1945 Moselache was placed under Polish administration, which introduced the place name Śmiechowice.
