Södertälje

Södertälje? / I [ sø ː ˌ dəʈɛl je] is a Swedish city southwest of Stockholm in Stockholm County and the historic province of Södermanland. It is the capital of the municipality of the same name.

Attractions

The S / S Ejdern that supposedly oldest still operating steamship in the world, is located in Södertälje.

In the old town, the two museums Torekällbergets Museum and Södertälje are Stadsmuseum. These include: Södertäljer old houses to visit.

Scientific Center of Tom Tits Experiment you can experience art.

Economy

Södertälje is home to two large and internationally important companies Scania and AstraZeneca.

Scania is one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the world and is home to its head office in Södertälje and research, development and production. On the outskirts of Södertälje is also an extensive test track of Scania.

The Swedish- British pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca, headquartered in London has in Södertälje its research and development department.

Traffic

In 2003, Södertälje received two new feeder roads to the European route E4. In addition, there are train connections to Stockholm, Eskilstuna, Gothenburg and Helsingborg / Malmö. By Södertälje leads a channel which connects Lake Mälaren with the Baltic Sea.
