Soma is a village in the West African nation of Gambia.

According to a calculation for 2013 there live about 10,707 inhabitants, the result of the last published census of 2003 was 11,050.

Geography

Soma, the largest city in the Lower River Region ( LRR) in the district of Jarra West, is situated on the South Bank Road about 180 kilometers east of Banjul and about fourteen kilometers south of Farafenni, on the other side of the river, away. The headquarters of the administrative unit in Mansa Konko LRR is located about three kilometers to the north. Soma is a major transportation hub, as on the north / south axis of the Trans - Gambia Highway ( N4) runs. This road connects the Senegal Casamance, while, the road leads through Kaolack and Nioro du Rip by Gambia on cities Farafenni and Soma after Bignona and again Ziguinchor in Senegal. It has been thought about the road with a bridge over the Gambia expand. This project has not been realized yet, thus, this ferry connection just as haunted as the connection between Banjul and Barra.
