Somerset, Tasmania

Somerset is located in Tasmania, a small village six kilometers west of Burnie. It lies at the mouth of the River Cam, midway between the town of Wynyard and the city of Burnie, on the Bass Highway.

There are a number of small businesses in Somerset, almost all located on the main road, such as a company for woodworking and a company for mining, forestry and agricultural equipment. In the resort there are sports facilities for football and tennis. Before Sommerset a sea beach of quartz sand is a sand dune.

Since there is only one primary school in Sommerset, students need to go to secondary schools either Wynyard or Burnie by Metro Tasmania. The airport of Burnie is located about a 15-minute drive away in Wynyard.
