Songcatcher is an American film drama by director Maggie Greenwald from the year 2000., It is about a musicologist who studies the folk music of the Appalachian Mountains in western North Carolina, archviert and collects. Although Songcatcher is a feature film, it is loosely based on the work of Olive Dame Campbell, founder of the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina.
