Sonic Syndicate

Sonic Syndicate is a Swedish metalcore band from Falkenberg. The band was founded in 2002 as Fallen Angels. One of the biggest influences include bands like In Flames and Killswitch Engage. The band calls their style " ( Un ) true nuclear metal".

Band History

The Roger and Richard Sjunnesson brothers and their cousin Robin Sjunesson played in 2002 with school friends in various bands. Since the three wanted to start your own project with a different musical direction, the trio founded the band Fallen Angels. At the time, the band played traditional Heavy Metal, which was heavily influenced by Iron Maiden and Helloween.

In March 2003 the band played their first concert as part of a talent competition at her school. The competition could not win though, but the band was satisfied with the reactions of the audience and the competition bands.

Within a year the band recorded three demos. The second and third demo were recorded in Studio Mega ( among others Beseech Lake of Tears, The Crown, ). The Fallen Angels played after many concerts throughout Scandinavia.

In December 2004, the band signed a contract with the U.S. company Pivotal Records. At this time, the band did a lot of thinking about their names. Ultimately, the band changed its name to Sonic Syndicate. The new name fit better in the opinion of the band to the music. In the spring of 2005, the band returned to the studio and recorded the mega debut album " Eden Fire". In September of the same year the album was released.

A year later, Sonic Syndicate participated in a talent competition launched by Nuclear Blast. The Swedes were able to prevail against more than 1500 other bands and were declared the winner. As a reward, the band Nuclear Blast was signed.

In 2006, Andreas Martensson left the band. Likewise, Kristoffer Bäcklund wanted to now concentrate on his own band What Tomorrow Brings, in which he is a singer. John Bengtsson replaced him on drums.

On 20 November 2006 Sonic Syndicate began in Black Lounge Studio in Avesta recording their second album Only Inhuman. The album is produced together with Jonas Kjellgren ( Scar Symmetry guitarist ) and was published on 18 May 2007. Also in 2007 came Sonic Syndicate at the With Full Force and Wacken Open Air.

The band was on the road as a part of Darkness over X - Mas Tour with Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, The Sorrow, Maroon and Misery Speaks.

In 2008, the band also played, among others, on the twin festival Rock am Ring and Rock im Park, as well as at the Summer Breeze and the Nova Rock. In the same year they gave with their models of In Flames a concert tour through Denmark, Germany and Austria.

The third studio album Love and Other Disasters was also produced by Scar Symmetry guitarist Jonas Kjellgren and appeared on 19 September 2008.

The beginning of 2009 the band announced Roland Johansson after the end of the tour to leave for personal reasons in 2009. He is now active in the Swedish band Dodge. End of August 2009 Nathan J. Biggs was announced as his successor.

Began in early 2010 Sonic Syndicate with the recordings for the fourth studio album We Rule the Night. As a first Release date May 28, 2010 was specified, but the publication on August 27, 2010 has been postponed. The cover artwork of the album was released on March 5, 2010. It was designed by Gustavo Sazes in collaboration with the band. The musical style of the album is very different from its predecessors. It contains significantly fewer characteristics of Melodic Death Metal and Metalcore, but it is very pop -heavy, what of the fans and fanzines both positive, as is also rated negatively. In addition, it is also the first album on the Nathan J. Biggs occurs as a singer in appearance. In September of the same year, the video appeared to Turn it Up, which was deleted due to offensive content shortly after the release on various video platforms again. It was then placed in a censored version back online.

On 26 October 2010 the band via their official website announced that singer Richard Sjunnesson will not participate in the We Rule the World Tour of " family and personal reasons " on. Two days later, Richard corrected this statement via his blog and explained that he had left the band because the band " is unable to play decent music." He also made ​​it clear that he is not satisfied with the new musical style of the band. He started out with his brother Roger and Roland Johansson Sjunnesson a new project, which bears the name of The Unguided.

In live performances, Richard was represented by Christoffer Andersson.

On June 12, 2012 co-founder Roger Sjunnesson announced on the homepage of his second band, The Unguided, he has also left Sonic Syndicate.

Currently the band is working on a new studio album.
