Sophia Antipolis

Sophia Antipolis is a technology and science park in Antibes on the Côte d' Azur. It is located in the center of the community interconnection of Sophia Antipolis. Launched by the French Senator Pierre Laffitte in 1970, currently has over 30,000 employees on the 2300 -acre site in approximately 1,300 companies.

Etymology

The first part of the name derives from the Greek word Sophia ( Σοφία ), which can be translated as " wisdom " or "knowledge". The second half is derived from the ancient name for Antibes at the time of settlement by Greek traders, Antipolis ( Αντίπολις ), from which literally means "Against City " means and refers to the location opposite Nice.
