Sopotnica (Prijepolje)

Sopotnica ( Serbian Cyrillic Сопотница ) is a town in the district of Zlatibor in the southwestern mountainous region of Serbia. It is part of the municipality of Prijepolje. The village Sopotnica is known mainly due to the waterfalls of the same. The place is also marked by a number of houses with an exceptional building from the Middle Ages.

Population

As of the 2002 census, the village had 136 inhabitants.

Population Development

Since 1948, major changes were recorded in the population development. 1948 416 people lived in this place. 2002 136 inhabitants were recorded, thus a significant decrease of the residents.

With about 75 % presented at the 2002 census, the Serbs, the majority of the population in the community, followed by the ethnic Muslims with about 24 % and about 1% is not known.

Geology

In Sopotnica to sedimentary rocks has been deposited, especially limestone.

Flora

The world of flora includes about 62 species of flowers. Thus, this means a high diversity in a very small area.
