Souesmes
Souesmes (pronounced " ßuäm " ) is a commune with 1119 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Loir -et -Cher in the Centre region. Souesmes is located 200 kilometers south of Paris, in the forest of Sologne.

History
- Souesmes lies on the Roman road between Avaricum ( Bourges ) and Cenabum ( Orléans ). The river Sauldre - north of Souesmes - was the border between the Karnuten and Bituriges.
- Original name: " Sesmovico ", " Segimo vico " (Merovingian coin), " Sissima " in the year 634, " Seisma " in the 11th century, then " Soeme " (various spellings since the Middle Ages ).
- In the year 634, the property of the monastery Saint Julian of Auxerre; the church belonged then to the Collegiate Church of St. taurine from La Ferté- Imbault.
- 1451 combines with the Count city of Blois. In 1498 the royal domain of King Louis XII. connected.
- June 17, 1944: Heavy fighting between the Germans and the French Resistance.
