South Asia

South Asia is a part of the Asian continent and is separated from the rest of Asia by mountains in the northwest, north and northeast. The space is to this day, although the term is partly occupied as outdated and colonial history, also known as the Indian subcontinent, there is considerable scope for overlap between the concepts of the Middle East and South Asia.

Demarcation

Geologically, a large part of South Asia, as it is a separate tectonic plate, also known as Indian subcontinent. The perimeter of the room:

  • From the Himalayas in the north to Tibet ( East Asia ) and the Pamir to Central Asia,
  • The highlands of Baluchistan in the west to the Near East,
  • From Patkai and Arakan Yoma mountain range in the east to Southeast Asia.
  • To the south it is surrounded by the Indian Ocean, to the west by the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal to the east of Peninsular India.

Population

South Asia is one of the poorest regions of the world. More than 20 % of the world population live there, in India alone, live over a billion people.
