Southeast Limburgish dialect
As Südostlimburgisch ( Ndl Oostelijk Zuidlimburgs or Zuidoost Limburg ) a border in Limburg dialect is referred to in the southeastern province of Limburg and neighboring areas in Germany and Belgium. It is a transitional dialect from südniederfränkischen Ostlimburgischen for West Central German Ripuarian.
Importance
Südostlimburgisch is spoken around Aachen in the Netherlands to Kerkrade, Bocholtz and Vaals in Belgium to Raeren and Eynatten as well as in Germany. It is very different from other sub- Limburg dialects, as well as significantly of German and Dutch. In Germany it is sometimes regarded as Ripuarian. Südostlimburgisch is more or less understandable with fewer shifts displayed Ripuarian.
The Ripuarian dialects call themselves almost always Platt, such as Öcher Platt ( Aachen ) and Eischwiele Platt ( Eschweiler ). On the way someone speaks, even if he does not use the Ripuarian, can be seen quite often, in which village or district someone has learned to talk.
It is not to be confused with Platdiets, which is a closely related but different transition dialect between Südostlimburgisch and Ripuarian. Also closely related is the Lower Rhine Subdialekt Niederrheinisch ( Dusseldorf, Velbert, Neviges, Langenberg, Holy House, Wülfrath and Solingen ) and the West Bergische ( Heinberg, Mönchengladbach ).
