Southern Downs Region

Geography
The region is located in the extreme southeast of the state on the border with New South Wales about 130 km southwest of the capital, Brisbane.
Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Warwick with about 12 500 inhabitants. History
Today's Southern Downs region was founded in 2008 from the two Shires Stanthorpe and Warwick.
Management
The Southern Downs Regional Council has nine members. The Mayor ( mayor) and eight other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
